New Hampshire’s Kid Governor® (NHKG) is led by the NH Institute for Civics Education and the NH Institute of Politics. It is a state affiliate of Kid Governor®, an award-winning civics program created by the Connecticut Democracy Center.
Timed to coincide with Election Day in November, NHKG is an annual program that offers schools the opportunity to enter one student candidate into a statewide election that other 5th graders vote in. Classes can vote in the election, nominate a classmate to run for office, or both! Toolkits consisting of free, custom-designed lesson plans guide classroom teachers through the program and teach students about state government in their state, the history and process of voting, and active participation in civic life.

Suzy is collecting stories about how more outdoor learning time has affected students in a positive way while attending hybrid or full time in person learning. Her plan is to present the stories to NH legislators.
Lola Gianelli’s farewell speech at Suzy Brand’s inauguration speaks volumes to the power of this program. As NH’s first Kid Governor, Lola worked hard to promote the program and her platform. We are so proud of Lola’s work!
"My kids and I have so enjoyed Suzy's videos and the online lessons. Thank you so much for all you have done to make this easier for us and our students. My kids absolutely love being a part of this!"
