Mikva Challenge
Democracy is a verb.
Mikva Challenge envisions a stronger, inclusive democracy that values youth voice. The program’s civics curricula encourage youth to be informed, participatory citizens in their communities and beyond, and was founded on the premise that youth voice matters, and that our civic life will be stronger when youth participate and help shape their own destinies.
NH Civics has been working with classroom teachers in school districts across the state to implement Mikva Challenge including Bow, Concord, Franklin, Groveton, Littleton, Manchester, Pittsfield, Washington, and Weare. We actively seek district partners, with a focus on underserved and under-resourced communities.
In addition to our proven civics curriculum, Mikva Challenge provides educator professional development, and youth leadership programming including Project Soapbox, Issues to Action, Elections in Action, and Student Voice Committees.
This initiative is funded by local NH organizations including the Tillotson Foundation, the NH Democracy Fund, and the Jameson Foundation.
