Educate More Students, Youth & Teachers

Civics learning now means civic strength later.

We are proud to offer a diversity of programs and curricula to serve NH students and educators.

Free, Robust K-12 Curriculum

NH Civics provides free access to a robust civics curriculum library for grades K-12, all accessible via our website. This curriculum is core to the fulfillment of our mission, and is rigorous, equitable and engaging.

Primary Civics Curriculum Development

We are currently working to research, design, develop, pilot and evaluate K-3 early civics curriculum that introduces concepts like justice, compromise, community, democratic documents and procedures, leadership, rules/laws, empathy, civic agency, voting and respect for opinions that differ from one’s own.

A National, Award-Winning State Government Program for Fifth Graders

New Hampshire’s Kid Governor® is a national award-winning civics program, which immerses students in learning about state government, elections and voting, and civic participation through a real-life election for their state’s Kid Governor. NH Civics’ long term goal is to include all 12,000 New Hampshire 5th graders in this engaging program every year.

A Free Public Speaking Initiative for K-12 Students

Mikva Challenge is a free public speaking initiative that encourages New Hampshire students to develop and deliver an original speech about an issue important to them. This civics curriculum encourages youth to be informed, participatory citizens in their communities and beyond. We began with the relatively under-resourced rural communities of Groveton, Littleton, Gorham, Pittsfield, Weare and Henniker. This year we have added Franklin, Colebrook and Washington to our cohort. Our long-term goal is to bring this proven, evidence-based civics curriculum to every district in New Hampshire.

A Hands-on Court Education Experience with the New Hampshire Supreme Court

Civics 603! offers middle and high school students an inside look at how our court system works through meetings with court officials at the New Hampshire Supreme Court performing mock appellate oral arguments. This program has reached over 1,300 students with a curriculum that teaches civic agency, respect for opinions different from one’s own, democratic documents and procedures and Rule of Law.

Free Professional Development for Educators

NH Civics provides free professional development opportunities for all teachers working in New Hampshire, both online and in person. Over the past six years, we have trained over 1,500 teachers across grades K-12 in a variety of civics education areas.
